Varicose Veins

Whether you call them “Varicose Veins” or “Spider Veins”, they’re basically capillaries and blood vessels which become visible for a variety of reasons. Whatever reason you have them, they can be removed safely with minimal discomfort.

What Are They?
Over time, pressure from deep leg veins can cause superficial blood vessels to dilate and eventually become visible. Most of this pressure builds in the lower legs. Therefore, varicose veins are very common on the thighs, calves, and ankles. However, varicose veins can appear anywhere, including the face and hands. As we age, varicose (spider) veins have a tendency to spread. Common causes of varicose veins include pregnancy, sedentary jobs, standing jobs, weight fluctuations, hormonal shifts, being female, and genetics. Over the years, many plastic surgeons have recommended a variety of methods to prevent the formation of these unsightly veins. These treatments have included regular exercise, foot elevation to decrease pressure in the legs, and frequent use of sunscreen. While these suggestions may help, they do not necessarily guarantee the prevention of such veins.
